Yorkshire Dales
Part of the backbone of England, the mighty Pennine Hills form the highest ground towards the centre of the region. The delightful village of Malham is situated amidst fantastic limestone scenery and within easy reach of this centre are the attractions of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Malham Tarn.
Running west to east from this high are a series of parallel dales shaped by glacial action and honed down by the subsequent erosion forces of fast flowing streams.
Way before you reach the city walls and from any direction across the flat lands the magnificent architecture of the cathedral of York Minster rearing up in giant perpendicular columns ahead, becoming an alluring landmark.
On the moorlands that stretch from towards the North Sea are heather clad moors that are crisscrossed by streams and minor roads leading to pretty market villages such as Thornton Le Dale. On route we will be visiting Robinhood Bay, Whitby and York Minster Cathedral.
